Awesome InfoArtist in Residence Program Accepting Applications for 2013Nature has long served as an inspiration for artists and the vast diversity of the landscape and culture in South Carolina makes the parks the perfect location for creative minds to go to work. The Artist in Residence program invites sculptors, painters, photographers and other artists to create works of art based on their interpretations of a park’s natural and cultural offerings. The program is now accepting applications for 2013. Selected artists will receive an all-expenses-paid stay in one of our parks with cabins. The cabins come with a fully-equipped kitchen, linens and bathrooms. In return, artists are asked to create a piece of work to donate to the parks within 90 days of their stay. The work will be displayed in cabins or other indoor facilities on the park and should reflect a part of the artist’s residing park for present and future generations. Transportation to and from the cabins and park is left responsible to the artist, and he or she must bring all art supplies, gear, food and other amenities needed. To fill out an application and look over the application procedure, download the form here. After the application deadline passes, state park representatives will review the applicants and assign artists to the park in which he or she will reside. For more information call 843-537-9656 or email mdavies@scprt.com with the subject line AIR 2013. |
